What to bring with you to New Zealand
We understand that migration can be an overwhelming task because, with over 15years worth of experience and the opportunity of helping thousands of families move to New Zealand, we’ve dealt with every possible scenario.
We are the most successful Migration company in South Africa because we aim to assist our highly skilled clientele from start to finish. You’re late for your flight, you have 60 seconds to pack your bags and leave, what do you bring?
We trust that by sharing our exclusive list of “What to bring with you to New Zealand.”, you will be well prepared for your new life, regardless of your scenario.
Clothing
The temperature during an NZ summer average is 20 – 25 degrees (December to February), and winter averages 12 – 16 degrees (June to August).
We advise that you pack usual clothing items such as shoes, underwear, and personal hygiene items. We also recommend packing, one lightweight waterproof item, as the weather in New Zealand is unpredictable!
If you’re starting at a new company, it’s important to pack work clothes according to your new work environment. Note that the New Zealand work environment is much less formal than in SA.
Medication and Medical supplies
An important factor to remember is the continuation of prescription/chronic medication.
Get a letter from your doctor discussing any important details about the background of the specific medication you’re using.
Ensuring you get the right medication when in New Zealand is priceless, give yourself enough time, and refill your prescription just before departing.
Money
Let’s talk finances. We’ve formed strong business relationships, so you don’t have to. Our clients get a premium discounted rate when transferring money with JP Blue. If you want more money to assist your move, email Kevin: at kevin@jpblue.co.za.
Kevin has helped many of our clients save money over the last few years and I am sure he will do the same for you. Just remember to let them know we sent you!
Electrical goods
It’s possible to ship electrical goods, but unsatisfactory sea conditions cause your larger appliances to fail shortly after arriving in New Zealand. Rather save shipping costs, because you’re better off buying new items in NZ.
Flying certain routes (e.g., through Singapore), you’re able to buy items like laptops, duty-free. If you have an unlocked cell phone, purchase a dual sim card when arriving in NZ, allowing you to text and call South Africa for 9c / text and 44c / minute.
Most importantly, don’t forget to bring your sunglasses and jandals (flip-flops).
